Intro to Haiti

Introducing: Haiti

As most may know, the country of Haiti is no stranger when it comes to dealing with natural disasters. Regardless, it is best known for its location in the Caribbean Sea, neighboring Cuba, Jamaica, and the Bahamas. Haiti is also known mostly for its climate. It is mostly humid and tropical within the region variating in temperatures depending on seasons and climate. On average, temperatures can range from 70 degrees F in January and February to mid 80s in July and August.

Haiti is currently amidst devastation after facing a 7.2 earthquake, in which death tolls are actually expected to continue rising. According to researchers, the death toll has recently risen to 1,297 and leaving around 2,800 injured. Many of the survivors were forced to shelter in either streets or soccer fields due to destroyed and damaged homes. Haiti and its people could still soon face further flooding due to heavy rain as well as landslides.
